Annual Report 2020-'21
Introduction
Education has changed dramatically with the distinctive rise of e-learning, whereby teaching is undertaken remotely and on digital platforms due to the spread of the novel Corona virus. With this sudden shift away from the classroom in many parts of the globe, some are wondering whether the adoption of online learning will continue to persist post-pandemic, and how such a shift would impact the worldwide education. But students, teachers and parents of Peace Public School, Mathilakam took this challenge as an opportunity and became successful in each and every sphere through this new mode of teaching and learning process.
Commencement of Academic session 2020-‘21
The school remained open from June 1st 2020 with all preparations by academic as well as administrative team. Even though the parents were not happy and accepting of the increased exposure to the screens in the beginning, gradually they have become accustomed to the new way of learning. They have cooperated with team academics to keep the learning a continuous process and success
Freshers’ Day
Babes’n’Tots has welcomed their new comers to Junior KG on June 1st itself with lots of fun and entertainment. The celebration was coordinated through zoom. Our Babes and their parents have enjoyed the first day of their school. Parents handed over a surprise gift to the child in front of teachers and shared the snapshots to school.
Zoom Platform & Google Classroom
As it is a completely unfamiliar scenario to all of us , teachers were worried about the teaching learning process. But, surprisingly IT wing has been very proactive and functioned well in advance to manage everything smoothly with the help of platforms Zoom and Google classroom. Team academics and administration together have created a well organized virtual class schedule for each class in different time slots. IT wing has created separate Classrooms for separate grades and were able to upload all the materials, articles, supporting learning videos, etc. prepared by the teachers. Students were encouraged to submit their works through Google classroom within the prescribed time.
Teachers’ Training Programs
The school believes in providing trainings to all faculties for the betterment of their career.Our teachers were always sent for training programmes and workshops to enhance their teaching skills and strategies. Unlike previous years, school focused on the training on the integration of internet and other available resources to their teaching process. Moreover they were trained to handle the online classes and adaptation to new mode of teaching learning process.
School Parliament Election
A school is a miniature society. Children learnt about democracy and political administration in an experiential method by conducting the School Prefects Council Election online. Students enjoyed voting through Google forms on August 7th. Polling was 97.3%. Hafeed Hashim was elected the Head Boy and Aman K Anees, the Deputy Head Boy. Amina Niloofer and Yusra Thajudeen were the Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl respectively. They have performed well in their positions and proved that they can definitely be in the driving seats of the world.
International School Award By British Council
It’s a proud moment to all the stakeholders of Peace School that the dossier of activities of our students engaged in the academic year 2019-’20 were accredited by British Council and our school became eligible to receive the International School Award. The British Council is the United Kingdom's international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities.
Independence Day & Republic Day
National festivals help to infuse a sense of patriotism among the children. Online platform is a hindrance to celebrate our festivals joyfully. But the Social Science Department tried their maximum to reach our objectives through varieties of programs on Independence Day and Republic Day by engaging the students in designing Creative map of India, Slogan making contest, Akinator Quiz by Mohammed Bilal of Grade VII, Historical walk, Tricolour cake making, Tricolour sandwich making, presenting Meri pasantheetha netha, panel discussion on India in my Dreams, Tri colour badge making and Tri colour mask making.
Legends for The Year
Students have to be inspired by legends of different times and from different part of the world from different spheres of life. Our school focuses on the success stories of legendary persons.During the academic year we have tried to go through Sundar Pichai, Charlie Chaplin, Sippy Pallipuram, Kalpana Chawla, Bill Gates, Indira Gandhi, Nick Vujicic, Kapil Dev, Thomas Alva Edison and Mary Com.

Environment Day
Students have engaged in different activities on Environment Day. They have palnted saplings, donated saplings to neighbours and some students have created posters on save earth. “Goodbye to plastic and welcome paper bags” became one of the interesting and message producing activity on the special day.
I Love English
English Department come up with different and productive activities to generate a love towards language. They keep on work on vocabulary developments, focus more to the fluency and accent of languages through different interesting activities like word wall, Fun in reading, Spell well contest, Be a book worm , etc.
Science Exhibition
The Science Exhibition was held in the month of December. The students came forward with new creative ideas and models on topics given separately for every class. Many new concepts were showcased by the students.
Parenting
Many in-house seminars for the parents were organized in the current year to acquaint them with the changing mode of the academics and to make them aware about the dangers behind the usage of gadget of the children due to this pandemic lock down. On July 24th, parents had an interactive session with Dr Hashim Rifai, who is a motivational trainer and teacher coach. Ameer Mohammed, CEO of Edleem Inspiring Educators led a session on Parenting to our parents on August 28th. Parenting Experts Rustum Usman and Maryam Vidhu Vijayan also lead a session with our parents through zoom on May 2021.
Open Houses & Parents’ Meetings
Parent Teacher interactions were conducted on a regular basis to discuss the progress of the students. Two Open houses after term end assessments and two online parents meeting were held during the academic year. Parents appreciated the management and academic team for their smooth conduct of classes and timely assessments.
Talent Fiesta
The school has many students who not only excel in academics but also in the area of arts. That’s why, the school has always been taking initiatives to get the best talent in them. To promote the competitive spirit and to bring out the talent of the students, they are encouraged to participate in various co-curricular activities. Competitions for clay modeling, Make use of trash, mock interview, adzap, be the legend,elocution, poem recitation, mappilappattu,etc. were conducted during the year.We have consolidated the activities like off stage and on stage on different days. This kind of program always helps us in identifying talent in particular skills and can give more exposure to the students. The students become very happy in their achievements.
Colour Day
Babes’n’Tots has a different way of teaching the children. They learn many things through a play way method. Colours Day is such a strategy of the team to inculcate many objectives. Children come to know not only the name of colour, but also a variety of information related to it. It’s an easy and enjoyable method to teach different concepts. They select and celebrate different colour for each month.

Assessments & Evaluation
Four Periodic assessments and two term end assessments were conducted in Gems’n’Jewels. All the assessments were online. Parents were requested to submit the answer sheets of their children after the term end assessment. Attendance, subject enrichment activities, assignment submission and note book maintenance also were considered while preparing their report card. Babes’n’Tots were assessed through six cycles. Various activities and performance were assessed and a colourful performance card of each child was given to the parents at the end of the academic year.
Conclusion
Success of the school has been possible with the cooperation of our vibrant students, highly qualified and dedicated faculties and supportive parents. Thanks to the management committee of our school for their able guidance and encouragement. School encourages each child to observe, to explore, to experiment ,to probe, to analyze, to confront problems & find the solutions, Finally to develop the skills essential to face the future.
